General

What do you offer?

We offer personalised tuition from KS1 to KS4. Our tailored learning programmes cover Maths, English and Science as well as SEN, 11plus, preparation for secondary school, SATs and GCSEs.

How do I pay?

The fees are charged in advance in two block payments for a half term via cash or bank transfer. This is usually one payment for 4 weeks and then another payment for either 2 or 3 weeks depending on the length of the half term. Parents will be notified of the amount due at the time of payment. Payments are to be made at the start of the first session of the block payment period.

Are all the staff fully qualified?

Yes. All our staff have a teaching qualification or have extensive tutoring experience.

Have the staff all had DBS and references checked?

Yes.

What happens if we cannot make a session due to sickness or holidays?

Fees will not be refunded back in the case of absence. However, the child can make up the missed session within the month of absence/s.

Are you open during the summer holidays and half terms?

We are generally closed in the school holidays, however we do hold a range of booster sessions and mock tests throughout the holidays. Please contact your centre manager for more information.

What are your opening times?

Our centre is open for tuition after school and weekends.

What is the success rate with entrance exams?

We have a 98% pass rate into selected schools on the basis that your child has been with us over 12 months.

Tuition

How many children in the tuition groups?

Maximum of 6 to a group.

Is it not noisy with 6 in a group?

No, all staff are trained to ensure noise is kept to a minimum level and once a child sees other children working quietly they tend to do the same.

How does it work when the children are at different levels in the group?

The tutors are specially trained for mixed ability groups and always plan their sessions differentiating the work, we also try to keep the groups as homogenous as possible.

Won't the tutor focus more on the children who are struggling?

No, tutors are trained so that their time is evenly spread out across the 6 pupils. The group is small in size, which means pupils will receive sufficient individual attention.

Is homework given?

We give parents the opportunity to purchase homework books at a discounted rate. We then use the books to set and mark the homework.

How will I know whether my child is improving?

We reassess children frequently and you will receive termly reports outlining attainment and including notes from the tutors. You can also request a meeting with the tutor at any time to discuss your child’s progress.

How much is one to one Tuition?
One to one starts at £30 per hour.

It’s a great place to send my daughter to, she’s been going for about 6 months now and such an improvement in her school work already, and very friendly staff to. I would definitely recommend sending your child to them if u feel your child needs that extra support.

My daughter has been going here for a while and i think its the best decision I made sending her to LBC. She passed her 11+ test and Allhumdulliah is doing well at school. Both main owners are very understanding in general. I will  carry on sending her when she starts high school as well because it will help her if shes struggling with anything.

I have been attending to LBC tuition for 4 years and my grades have raised and I have also moved up sets. It also gives you the ability to become quicker at doing questions and it’ll give you a great understanding of GCSE questions.
